Apartments, apartments, apartments

For the past 6 months John and I have been living in the Chinatown area of downtown DC. We've really enjoyed the neighborhood, and it's been nice to have been within a couple blocks of the metro, plenty of restaurants and a movie theater. We were also really happy with the place we've been renting, as it has a lot of natural light and great views of DC. Here are a couple pictures of the apartment.

We bought a condo when we were in Indonesian language training 3 years ago, and we've been renting it out since we moved to Jakarta. We recently decided to furnish it and rent it out as a fully furnished apartment. It was no easy feat, as we needed to acquire everything from furniture and small appliances to all kitchen and linen items, etc. However, it was pretty fun to come up with ideas for decorating it. For once we had a place which looked, well, nice! Too bad it will be our renters enjoying the fruits of our labor and not us. Our place is listed with a management company, so they will take care of all the logistics while we are overseas. Although we are currently without a renter and are hoping to get one soon. Below are some pictures after we furnished it.

We just found out a couple days ago that the Embassy in Lisbon finally found an apartment for us! It's in the central Lisbon area, and it seems like the location will be ideal. Apparently it is a renovated art-deco building, and we can't wait to see what our place looks like. It is Europe after all, so we are prepared for it to be smaller in a lot of ways than what we are used to. We will definitely post some pictures of it once we are there, but here are a few random ones in the meantime.

Mr. Herley?

Recently, I made a reservation at a Himalayan restaurant here in DC. The picture below shows the name they held our table under. It really reminded us of Indonesia.
